Locations for Disney World, Disneyland and Aulani

Walt Disney World (Orlando, Florida)

Avis is located on airport property in Orlando. You can just walk right out to the garage to pick up your car.

Avis also has a desk at the Hilton near Downtown Disney.

Disneyland (Anaheim, California)

Avis is located on airport property in Orange County, CA (SNA).

Avis has a regular shuttle at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

Disney’s Aulani Resort (Oahu, Hawaii)

Avis is located on property at the Honolulu airport (HNL). You’ll take a short shuttle ride to the rental car lot.

Wizard Number

Avis has a frequent-renter program that assigns you a “Wizard Number.” In order to get a Wizard Number you pre-register your credit card number and driver’s license number, which can speed your check-in at the airport.

Additional Drivers

Unlike many rental car companies that charge a premium on additional drivers, Avis has quite a liberal policy of allowing a spouse, life partner, employer or fellow employee to drive the vehicle without any additional paperwork or payment. This can save you quite a bit: some rental car companies charge $10 a day or more when you add an additional driver. The policy below is subject to change at any time:

The following individuals, if 25 years of age or older and in possession of a valid driver’s license, may drive the car with the renter’s prior permission:

• Renter’s employer (while on company business);
• Renter’s fellow employee (while on company business);
• Renter’s spouse or life partner.

The above additional drivers are considered “authorized drivers” and need not be present at the time of rental, nor do they need to sign an additional driver form.

Avis Discounts, Codes and Coupons

To find the best rates, I recommend trying every code that applies to your travel dates and desired car type when checking rates for Avis online. Just type the code into the appropriate box on the Avis website.

The codes below are good for anyone to use and unless otherwise noted, do not require a paper coupon. However, some of them will work only for certain dates and/or car types, and some have blackout dates over certain holidays — so if one doesn’t work, try another. Rates do not include taxes and fees.

Avis Discounts Open to Anyone

• Get an Intermediate SUV for $23/weekend day or $169/week or a Standard SUV for $26/weekend day or $179/week at Avis. Use AWD# D039700. No physical coupon required. Weekend rate available Thursday noon; car must be returned by Monday 11:59 pm, or higher rate will apply. A Saturday night keep and an advance reservation may be required. Offer is subject to vehicle availability at the time of rental and may not be available on some rates at some times. Rental must begin by 6/15/13.
• Get a 3rd day FREE on weekend rentals at Avis on a Compact car (Group B) or higher. Excludes Specialty vehicles (group X). Use AWD# TUWA036. No physical coupon required. Avis Discounts Requiring Membership, Physical Coupon, etc.

• New!Use your Visa card and get a FREE day on weekly rentals at Avis. Use coupon code TUCA044 (no physical coupon required). Offer of one day free applies to the time and mileage charges only of a minimum five consecutive day rental period on an Intermediate (group C) through a Fullsize 4-door (group E) car. A Saturday night keep is required. Rental must begin by 10/31/13.

Choice Privileges members (free to join) can get savings of up to 25% at Avis. Use AWD# W661100.

Hyatt Gold Passport frequent-stay program members (free to join online) can save up to 20% off Avis rentals with AWD# K817700. Valid at participating Avis airport locations worldwide. Hotel stay is not required. Members must provide their Hyatt Gold Passport membership number at time of rental.

Discover Card holders can get savings of up to 25% at Avis. Use AWD code Q336600.

Sears cardholders can get Avis discounts and coupons. Visit Sears.com and look at the bottom under “Sears Websites” for the heading “Car Rentals.” Thanks to Ernie D for info!

Warehouse clubs such as Costco and BJ’s Wholesale Club may offer discounts on Avis to their members. If you are a member, see the store for specific codes and coupons.

USAA is another great source of Avis discounts for its members. In addition to discounts of up to 25%, you get extra rental benefits, including specialized insurance coverage and no additional driver fee if the additional driver is your spouse or other USAA member. And because of its connection to the military, USAA’s agreement with Avis waives the “young driver fee” for rentals to people ages 21-24.
