Locations for Disney World, Disneyland and Aulani

Walt Disney World (Orlando, Florida)

Hertz is located on airport property in Orlando. You can just walk right out to the garage to pick up your car.

Hertz has a location on Disney World property at Shades of Green.

Hertz also has a location near Walt Disney World at Caribe Royale, which is right next door to Buena Vista Suites.

Disneyland (Anaheim, California)

Hertz is located on airport property in Orange County, CA (SNA).

Hertz has a regular shuttle at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

Disney's Aulani Resort (Oahu, Hawaii)

Hertz is located on property at the Honolulu airport (HNL). You'll take a short shuttle ride to the rental car lot.

Hertz also has a location at JW Marriott Ihilani Ko Olina Resort, which is located within easy walking distance of Aulani.

Hertz #1 Club and #1 Club Gold

Hertz #1 Club is a free membership that allows you to register your credit card and other information in advance, which should speed your check-in. Often there is a special check-in line for #1 Club customers.

Hertz #1 Club Gold is a higher-level membership that allows you to be taken directly to your waiting car. You completely bypass the check-in line. This is normally valued at $60, but there are a few ways to get a FREE or reduced-cost membership:

• Through 3/31/12, anyone can join for FREE on the Hertz website. Thanks to Cathy N for info.

• Delta Skymiles members (you can join for FREE) can enroll in Hertz #1 Club Gold for FREE. Use Program Name Delta Skymiles and Promotion Code 5765. Thanks to Keenan C for info.

• If you have The Platinum Card from American Express^® (the charge card, not the co-branded Platinum credit cards such as Platinum Starwood, Costco, etc.), you can enroll in Hertz #1 Club Gold for FREE.

• American Bar Association members can get the Hertz #1 Club Gold fee waived.

• NEA members can get the Hertz #1 Club Gold fee waived.

• AAA members can supposedly get 50% off Hertz #1 Club Gold membership when they enroll at aaa.com. In some AAA regions you can access the offer by going to the rental car reservations page. Look about halfway down under the section titled "Coupon Number or Special Hertz Rate Code." You may see a text link under the two options for "Promotional Code" and "Rate Code." In other regions the link does not appear, so unfortunately there appears to be no way to enroll. Good luck! Thanks to Garth G for help.

• MouseSavers.com reader Chris M reports that Southern California AAA Premier members can get FREE Hertz #1 Club Gold membership through this link.

• Many other professional associations and membership organizations also offer fee waivers or discounts on Hertz #1 Club Gold membership. If you belong to a major professional organization, alumni association, etc., be sure to inquire whether they offer a waiver.

Discounts, Codes and Coupons

To find the best rates, I recommend trying every code that applies to your travel dates and desired car type when checking rates for Hertz online. Just type the code into the appropriate box on the Hertz website.

Codes for Anyone

The codes below are good for anyone to use and unless otherwise noted, do not require a paper coupon. However, some of them will work only for certain dates and/or car types, and some have blackout dates over certain holidays -- so if one doesn't work, try another. Rates do not include taxes and fees.

• Be sure to check the online specials on the Hertz site.

• CDP #1757580 is reportedly for readers of Car & Driver magazine. Thanks to Hot AirBus for info.

Codes Requiring Memberships or Valid for Specific Groups Only

Unless otherwise noted, the codes listed below do not require a paper coupon. However, some of them will work only for certain dates and/or car types, and some have blackout dates over certain holidays -- so if one doesn't work, try another. Rates do not include taxes and fees.

• AAA members usually get some of the best Hertz discounts available. Get the CDP # from your local AAA regional office (it varies from region to region).

  • AAA members can also use coupons when booking a car (click the link to see printable coupons). These change frequently, so be sure to print out whichever ones you use at the time of booking.

  • MouseSavers.com reader George V reports that "as a AAA member, you get 1 free (baby/child) car seat with the rental of a car. We were able to use this last year and it is still listed as Hertz benefit on the AAA site."

• Members of the Marriott Rewards frequent stay program can save on Hertz rentals. If you are not a member of Marriott Rewards, you can join online for FREE. Be sure to provide your Marriott Rewards number when renting in order to get 500 points per rental. Use CDP #154080 along with an electronic coupon code.

• If you are a member of the frequent flyer program for almost any major airline (and if you're not, you can usually join instantly online for FREE), you can get a discount, use a coupon, and earn double miles/points/credits in the program when renting from Hertz. Click on "Special Offers" on the Hertz site and follow the links to "Save up to $30 & Earn Double Miles/Points/Credits."

• The 2012 Entertainment Book has a CDP # for up to 20% off, plus several coupons for Hertz. Hertz coupons in the 2012 Entertainment Books expire 6/30/13. See your book for coupon codes, then go to the Hertz website and use the provided coupon code when booking. The Hertz coupons included in all 2012 Entertainment Books are:

  • $35 off Hertz Collection weekly rental (vehicles from Adrenaline Collection, Green Traveler Collection or Prestige Collection)

  • Up to $25 off ($5 per day off weekly or weekend rental)

  • FREE one car class upgrade (weekly or weekend rental of Economy through Fullsize)

  Also, once you have an Entertainment Book, go to Entertainment.com and register it. Then look under Travel and you'll find e-coupons for Hertz. Sometimes they are better than the coupons in the book! The online coupons are completely electronic (no physical coupon required). You can cut and paste the coupon codes from the Entertainment Book site into the Hertz reservations site to try different ones. Thanks to lawgs for the tip.

Warehouse clubs such as Costco and BJ's Wholesale Club may offer discounts on Hertz to their members. See the store for specific codes and coupons.

USAA is another great source of Hertz discounts for its members. In addition to discounts of up to 25%, you get extra rental benefits, including specialized insurance coverage and no additional driver fee if the additional driver is your spouse or other USAA member. And because of its connection to the military, USAA's agreement with Hertz allows rentals to people ages 18-24, with the "young driver fee" waived. AARP offers a discount on Hertz to its members (you must be 50 or older). See the AARP website for the Discount ID number.

MouseSavers.com reader Paul T reports that CDP #1859906 is valid for all public sector (federal, state, county, city) employees as well as employees of non-profit organizations.
