Adventures by Disney Discounts & Info

LAST UPDATE: 5/20/15

In summer 2005, Disney quietly solicited participants for some experimental vacation packages to Hawaii and Yellowstone. They called the program “Adventures by Disney.” A very limited number of participants had the opportunity to test out the concept the first year. Starting in 2006, the Adventures by Disney program became available to the public and expanded to many more destinations, including Costa Rica, France, England and Italy.

Adventures by Disney guests travel in small groups limited to 40 participants, and are led by two Disney-trained Adventure Guides. Each adventure is filled with immersive, interactive experiences you might never have tried if you were traveling on your own. Local experts provide authenticity and character by sharing knowledge and stories. All of Adventures By Disney’s itineraries are designed around family fun. When a tour includes an experience that might not appeal to children, Disney will often offer a supervised experience that the kids can do separately. (Adventures by Disney recommends that participating children be age 6 years or older.) There are a few adults-only departures each season that forgo the extra kids’ activities.

You can expect impeccable service as well as a few surprises along the way. Vacationing is almost effortless. Travel, activities and scheduled meals during your adventure are planned. Luggage is handled for you and hotel check-ins are pre-arranged. Many of the tours and experiences are not available to the general public, such as after-hours museum visits or special exclusive tours to areas that are usually off-limits. The accommodations and food are first-class; it’s a premium family tour experience in all respects.

The 2016 season will include six 7-night river cruises on the Danube River on the all-new river cruise ship, AmaViola, which is being custom designed with families in mind. These river cruises, with AmaWaterways, will be in July and August, with two special holiday themed sailings on December 15 & 22.

The 2015 season (which runs through April 2016) added a longer Ecuador and Galapagos trip, including a multi-day trip into the Amazon rainforest on a luxurious privately-chartered riverboat and a different itinerary in the Galapagos. (The shorter Ecuador and Galapagos itinerary is still available as well.) In addition, a 3-night trip to Nashville, Tennessee has been added, including two DVC-exclusive dates. Two adventures that were DVC-exclusive in the 2014 season, New York and San Francisco, have added new dates that are open to everyone. And various itineraries have been enhanced with new activities and adventures.

Listed below are any Adventures by Disney discounts that are currently available. While discounts on Adventures by Disney vacations are not common, there are ways to save, plus occasional “extras” that are worthwhile. Those looking for even greater immersion into local culture can also add an Adventures by Disney 2-night pre- or post-river cruise experience in Prague, Czech Republic.

New family-friendly design elements on the AmaViola include six sets of connecting staterooms, as well as some rooms and suites that accommodate three- and four-person families, and other unique details that lend themselves to luxury family vacations. Shipboard spaces are being reimagined to provide for specially designed activities geared towards kids, teens and adults. Special Adventures by Disney activities for Junior Adventurers include activity nights, movies, karaoke, relay games, life-size chess lessons, video games and more. Teens will also find activities and themed nights created specifically for them.

The 6/7/15 and 7/12/15 China trips and the 8/21/15 Austria trip are multi-generational.

Adventures by Disney has designated some of their trips as adult-exclusive, for adults travelers age 18 and over. Many of their destinations have at least 1 tour designated as adult-exclusive.
