Adventures by Disney Discounts & Info
LAST UPDATE: 8/27/14
In summer 2005, Disney quietly solicited participants for some experimental vacation packages to Hawaii and Yellowstone. They called the program “Adventures by Disney.” A very limited number of participants had the opportunity to test out the concept the first year. Starting in 2006, the Adventures by Disney program became available to the public and expanded to many more destinations, including Costa Rica, France, England and Italy.
Adventures by Disney guests travel in small groups limited to 40 participants, and are led by two Disney-trained Adventure Guides. Each adventure is filled with immersive, interactive experiences you might never have tried if you were traveling on your own. Local experts provide authenticity and character by sharing knowledge and stories. All of Adventures By Disney’s itineraries are designed around family fun. When a tour includes an experience that might not appeal to children, Disney will often offer a supervised experience that the kids can do separately. (Adventures by Disney recommends that participating children be age 6 years or older.) There are a few adults-only departures each season that forgo the extra kids’ activities.
You can expect impeccable service as well as a few surprises along the way. Vacationing is almost effortless. Travel, activities and scheduled meals during your adventure are planned. Luggage is handled for you and hotel check-ins are pre-arranged. Many of the tours and experiences are not available to the general public, such as after-hours museum visits or special exclusive tours to areas that are usually off-limits. The accommodations and food are first-class; it’s a premium family tour experience in all respects.
The 2015 season (which runs through April 2016) added a longer Ecuador and Galapagos trip, including a multi-day trip into the Amazon rainforest on a luxurious privately-chartered riverboat and a different itinerary in the Galapagos. (The shorter Ecuador and Galapagos itinerary is still available as well.) In addition, a 3-night trip to Nashville, Tennessee has been added and the two DVC-exclusive trips from the 2014 season, New York and San Francisco, have added new dates that are open to everyone. And various itineraries have been enhanced with new activities and adventures.
The 2014 season (which runs through April 2015) now includes an enhanced trip to Italy, covering Florence, Rome, Venice and the Tuscan Countryside with a VIP tour of the Coliseum and the Vatican. A new itinerary based on the movie, The Sound of Music, is available, covering Austria, Germany and Czech Republic. Some specific dates will offer trips focusing on teen experiences for Arizona and Utah, Costa Rica and Peru. Perhaps most exciting is a new itinerary to Norway that visits the villages and landscapes that served as inspiration for the animated comedic-adventure, Frozen.
