Romantic Disneyland Restaurants and Dining

Blue Bayou

The Blue Bayou restaurant, located inside the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, is definitely one of the most romantic settings imaginable. Unfortunately it is insanely overpriced and the food is not very good, but for a marriage proposal, you may not be very focused on eating anyway!

For reservations at Blue Bayou, call Disney Dining at (714) 781-3463 up to 60 days in advance. If you are planning to propose, be sure to mention that to the reservationist.

Carthay Circle

Carthay Circle restaurant in Disney California Adventure offers an elegant, high-end dining experience. The food is expensive, but excellent.

For reservations at Carthay Circle, call Disney Dining at (714) 781-3463 up to 60 days in advance. If you are planning to propose, be sure to mention that to the reservationist.

Napa Rose

Napa Rose restaurant, located in the Grand Californian Hotel, is decorated in the rich style of the California Arts and Crafts movement. The restaurant’s light-colored woods and 20-foot-high vaulted ceilings set the scene for a memorable dinner. Meals at Napa Rose are expensive, but the quality of the food is excellent.

For an extra-special evening, choose the Vintner’s Table, a prix fixe menu of four or five courses. The menu changes each week to reflect the best seasonal culinary delights. Each course is beautifully paired with wine, if you choose. With a call to the restaurant, you can further customize your Vintner’s Table experience (price may vary).

Napa Rose has a private dining room with fireplace, which you can book for small groups – great for an anniversary party or rehearsal dinner.

For reservations at Napa Rose, call Disney Dining at (714) 781-3463 up to 60 days in advance.

To make special arrangements (i.e., to book the private dining room, set up a special menu, or alert the restaurant manager about a proposal you’re planning), call the restaurant directly at (714) 300-7170.

Other Romantic Dining Options

Many Disneyland restaurants can accommodate engagements and other romantic events. For larger events such as rehearsal dinners, post-wedding dinners and anniversary parties, you can also book a private party at some of the restaurants, call Disney Dining at (714) 781-3463 and have them connect you directly with the restaurant’s management for details, including costs, rules and menus.

You can arrange to have special cakes at restaurant events, too!

Dining Discounts

Annual Passholders and others can get a discount at a variety of Disneyland restaurants.

Romantic Places to Propose at Disneyland

If you want to propose in a memorable place at Disneyland, here are some perfect spots to pop the question:

Proposals and Photos

If you’re going to propose marriage at Disneyland, don’t forget to arrange for photos. Naturally you may want the actual proposal to be private, but it is a great idea to have some pictures taken immediately afterward. This will be one of the most memorable moments of your life, and it’s wonderful to have a record of it to enjoy later.

One option is to use a professional photographer or videographer. Arrange for a PhotoPass photographer to capture the moment, or arrange with a local pro to shoot the event.

Don’t want to pay for a professional? Ask a friend or family member to be present. Or at minimum, bring a camera and ask a passerby to capture the moment.

Getting Help with Your Proposal

Disney Weddings has some suggestions and options for proposals, so that’s one place to start. You can also search their Ever After Blog for posts about engagements and proposals.

If you will be staying in a Club Level room, contact the Concierge well in advance of the trip and they’ll usually be happy to help you make your dream proposal a reality. Your confirmation should list the phone number for the Concierge, or your travel agent should be able to get it for you.

If you will be staying at a Disney resort but not on the Club Level, you can ask the Lobby Concierge for help when you arrive. Quite frankly, the service they are prepared to provide is variable. One of them might be a romantic at heart and bend over backward to assist you, while another may offer you little or no help. If the first one you speak with isn’t helpful, come back later and speak with a different person.

If you’ve already arrived on property and you have an idea for a creative proposal but no idea how to arrange things, try approaching a Cast Member in Guest Services, or in the area where you want to make the magic happen. Seek out someone who seems friendly and isn’t super-busy at the time. As with the Lobby Concierge, your results will be variable, so ask a different Cast Member if the first one isn’t enthusiastic.

The staff at Disney Floral & Gifts is excellent at helping with proposals. Of course their primary function is to sell you flowers, gift baskets, etc, but they do have a lot of fun and creative ideas. Call them and ask!

If you’re working with a travel agent, ask her for help. The agent can’t make any on-property “magic” happen in the same way that a Disney Cast Member might, but if she is a Disney specialist, she may be able to think of interesting locations and ideas for a proposal.

In-Room Gifts, Flowers and Cakes

For romantic in-room touches, consider having a gift basket or flowers delivered to your hotel room. You can also order a special cake or bottle of champagne from Private Dining (room service).

Getting Married at Disneyland

If you want to be married at Disneyland, you must plan the event through Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings program. (The same information applies to a vow renewal or commitment ceremony. As far as Disney is concerned, these are interchangeable.)

Disney’s theme parks are private property. If you attempt to hold a wedding on your own in any public area, you are very likely to be detected and find yourself unceremoniously removed from the premises. Only participants in the Fairy Tale Weddings program receive certain privileges, including the right to wear wedding attire at the Disney resorts and the ability to get professional wedding photos taken in the Disneyland Resort. Also, it is only by using Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings that you can have Disney characters at your reception.
