Locations for Disney World, Disneyland and Aulani

Walt Disney World (Orlando, Florida)

Avis is located on airport property in Orlando. You can just walk right out to the garage to pick up your car.

Avis also has a desk at the Hilton near Downtown Disney.

Disneyland (Anaheim, California)

Avis is located on airport property in Orange County, CA (SNA).

Avis has a regular shuttle at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

Disney's Aulani Resort (Oahu, Hawaii)

Avis is located on property at the Honolulu airport (HNL). You'll take a short shuttle ride to the rental car lot.

Wizard Number

Avis has a frequent-renter program that assigns you a "Wizard Number." In order to get a Wizard Number you pre-register your credit card number and driver's license number, which can speed your check-in at the airport.

Additional Drivers

Unlike many rental car companies that charge a premium on additional drivers, Avis has quite a liberal policy of allowing a spouse, life partner, employer or fellow employee to drive the vehicle without any additional paperwork or payment. This can save you quite a bit: some rental car companies charge $10 a day or more when you add an additional driver. The policy below is subject to change at any time:

The following individuals, if 25 years of age or older and in possession of a valid driver's license, may drive the car with the renter's prior permission:

• Renter's employer (while on company business);
• Renter's fellow employee (while on company business);
• Renter's spouse or life partner.

The above additional drivers are considered "authorized drivers" and need not be present at the time of rental, nor do they need to sign an additional driver form.

Discounts, Codes and Coupons

To find the best rates, I recommend trying every code that applies to your travel dates and desired car type when checking rates for Avis online. Just type the code into the appropriate box on the Avis website.

The codes below are good for anyone to use and unless otherwise noted, do not require a paper coupon. However, some of them will work only for certain dates and/or car types, and some have blackout dates over certain holidays -- so if one doesn't work, try another. Rates do not include taxes and fees.

Discounts Open to Anyone

• Save $30 on an Economy through Fullsize car or Intermediate SUV weekly rental at Avis. Use AWD# MUWA033. No physical coupon required. A Saturday night keep and an advance reservation are required. Offer is subject to vehicle availability at the time of rental and may not be available on some rates at some times. Not available in Hawaii. Rental must begin by 2/15/12.

• Get up to 30% off weekend rentals at Avis. Offer excludes Specialty (Group X) cars. Use AWD# H774000. No physical coupon required. Weekend rate available Thursday noon; car must be returned by Monday 11:59 p.m., or higher rate will apply. A Saturday night keep and an advance reservation may be required. Offer is subject to vehicle availability at the time of rental and may not be available on some rates at some times. Rental must begin by 2/15/12.

• Save up to 20% on OFF-AIRPORT rentals at Avis. Offer applies to Avis leisure weekly,and weekend rates. Excludes Specialty vehicles (group X). Use AWD# H855900. No physical coupon required. Weekly rates require a minimum five day rental period. Weekend rate available Thursday noon; car must be returned by Monday 11:59 p.m., or higher rate will apply. A Saturday night keep and an advance reservation may be required. Offer is subject to vehicle availability at the time of rental and may not be available on some rates at some times. Rental must begin by 3/31/12.

• Get an Intermediate SUV rental for $22/weekend day or $149/week or a Standard SUV rental for $25/weekend day or $169/week at Avis. Use AWD# S767700. No physical coupon required. Weekend rate available Thursday noon; car must be returned by Monday 11:59 p.m., or higher rate will apply. A Saturday night keep and an advance reservation are required. Offer is subject to vehicle availability at the time of rental and may not be available on some rates at some times. Not available in Hawaii. Rental must begin by 6/30/12.

• Get up to 10% off weekend rentals at Avis. Offer applies to rental of a Intermediate (Group C) through a Fullsize (Group E). Use AWD# G833800. No physical coupon required. Weekend rate available Thursday noon; car must be returned by Monday 11:59 p.m., or higher rate will apply. A Saturday night keep and an advance reservation may be required. Offer is subject to vehicle availability at the time of rental and may not be available on some rates at some times. Rental must begin by 12/31/12.

• Get one day free on weekly rentals at Avis. Offer applies to one day free of the daily time and mileage charges on a minimum five consecutive day rental period on weekly rates with a Saturday night keep on an intermediate (group C) through full-size four door (group E) car. Use AWD# TUWA045. No physical coupon required. Rental must begin by 12/31/12.

• Get a FREE one-car group upgrade on your Avis weekly or weekend rental at participating AIRPORT locations. Use coupon code UUWA055 (no physical coupon required). Offer valid for Compact (group B) through Fullsize 4-door (group E) car. Maximum upgrade to Premium (group G). A Saturday night keep is required. Weekly rates require a minimum five day rental period. Weekend rate available Thursday; car must be returned by Monday 11:59 pm or higher rate will apply. • Save at Avis with AWD# K199060, which comes from a major Florida tourism organization and can be used by anyone. Thanks to Marco D for info.

• Wal-Mart Customers (i.e. anyone) can get up to 20% off rentals at Avis. Use AWD# B021615.

• FL Golf Entertainment Association (open to all golfers and family, no ID required) discount for Avis: Use AWD# C066983. Thanks to Hot AirBus for info.

Discounts Requiring Membership, Physical Coupon, etc.

• Use your Visa card and get a FREE day on your weekly rental at Avis. Use coupon code TUCA044 (no physical coupon required). Offer of one day free applies to the time and mileage charges only of a minimum five consecutive day rental period on an Intermediate (group C) through a Fullsize 4-door (group E) car. A Saturday night keep is required. Rental must begin by 2/29/12.

• All 2012 Entertainment Books offer an AWD# for up to 25% off, plus several reusable coupons for Avis. Avis coupons in the 2012 Entertainment Books are good through 6/30/13. See your book for coupon codes, then go to the Avis website and use the provided coupon code when booking. The Avis coupons included in all 2012 Entertainment Books are:

  • $40 off weekly rental (minimum 5-day rental of Convertible, Premium SUV or Fullsize SUV)

  • $25 off weekly rental (minimum 5-day rental of Intermediate through Fullsize)

  • free weekend day (minimum 3-day rental including Saturday night stay, of Intermediate through Fullsize)

  • FREE one car group upgrade (daily, weekend, weekly or monthly rental of Intermediate through Fullsize)

  • FREE double (two car group) upgrade (daily, weekend, weekly or monthly rental of Intermediate through Standard)

Additionally, the 2012 Orlando, FL (Disney World area), Orange County, CA (Disneyland area) and Hawaii Entertainment Books have a bonus Avis coupon for $30 off a minimum 5-day rental of an Intermediate through Fullsize. Expires 11/1/12.

There is another AWD# in all 2012 Entertainment Books in the "On Vacation: Southern California" section (F18) that gives up to 35% off. While it appears in the Southern California section, the small print says it applies at "participating locations in the US," so it may work outside of Southern California as well.

Also, once you have an Entertainment Book, go to Entertainment.com and register it. Then look under Travel and you'll find e-coupons for Avis. Sometimes they are better than the coupons in the book! The online coupons are completely electronic (no physical coupon required). You can cut and paste the coupon codes from the Entertainment Book site into the Avis reservations site to try different ones. Thanks to lawgs for the tip.

Choice Privileges members (free to join) can get savings of up to 25% at Avis. Use AWD# W661100.

Hyatt Gold Passport frequent-stay program members (free to join online) can save up to 20% off Avis rentals with AWD# K817700. Valid at participating Avis airport locations worldwide. Hotel stay is not required. Members must provide their Hyatt Gold Passport membership number at time of rental.

Discover Card holders can get savings of up to 25% at Avis. Use AWD code Q336600.

Sears cardholders can get Avis discounts and coupons. Visit Sears.com and look at the bottom under "Sears Websites" for the heading "Car Rentals." Thanks to Ernie D for info!

Warehouse clubs such as Costco and BJ's Wholesale Club may offer discounts on Avis to their members. If you are a member, see the store for specific codes and coupons.

USAA is another great source of Avis discounts for its members. In addition to discounts of up to 25%, you get extra rental benefits, including specialized insurance coverage and no additional driver fee if the additional driver is your spouse or other USAA member. And because of its connection to the military, USAA's agreement with Avis waives the "young driver fee" for rentals to people ages 21-24. AARP offers a discount on Avis to its members (you must be 50 or older). See the AARP website for the AWD code.
