Locations Near Disney World and Disneyland

Avis is located on airport property in Orlando. You can just walk right out to the garage to pick up your car.

Avis also has a desk at the Hilton near Downtown Disney.

Avis is located on airport property in Orange County, CA (SNA). It has a regular shuttle at LAX.

Wizard Number

Avis has a frequent-renter program that assigns you a "Wizard Number." In order to get a Wizard Number you pre-register your credit card number and driver's license number, which can speed your check-in at the airport.

Additional Drivers

Unlike many rental car companies that charge a premium on additional drivers, Avis has quite a liberal policy of allowing a spouse, life partner, employer or fellow employee to drive the vehicle without any additional paperwork or payment. This can save you quite a bit: some rental car companies charge $10 a day or more when you add an additional driver. The policy below is accurate as of July 2009:

The following individuals, if 25 years of age or older and in possession of a valid driver's license, may drive the car with the renter's prior permission:

• Renter's employer (while on company business);
• Renter's fellow employee (while on company business);
• Renter's spouse or life partner.

The above additional drivers are considered "authorized drivers" and need not be present at the time of rental, nor do they need to sign an additional driver form.

Discounts, Codes and Coupons

To find the best rates, I recommend trying every code that applies to your travel dates and desired car type when checking rates for Avis online. Just type the code into the appropriate box on the Avis web site.

The codes below are good for anyone to use and unless otherwise noted, do not require a paper coupon. However, some of them will work only for certain dates and/or car types, and some have blackout dates over certain holidays -- so if one doesn't work, try another. Rates do not include taxes and fees.

• Be sure to check the online specials on the Avis web site. Often these are the best deals.

• Use your MasterCard and save up to 20% on your Avis weekly or weekend rental, PLUS get a FREE single upgrade! Use AWD# A382900 and coupon code UUEA010 (no physical coupon required). Offer valid for a savings of up to 20% plus a one time, one car group upgrade on an Intermediate (group C) through a Fullsize four-door (group E) car. Maximum upgrade to Premium (group G). Weekly rates require a minimum five day rental period. Weekend rate available Thursday noon; car must be returned by Monday 11:59 pm or higher rate will apply. Upgrade will be applied at time of rental (will not appear on reservation). Offer is subject to vehicle availability at the time of rental and may not be available on some rates at some times. Travel must begin by 6/30/10.

• The 2010 Entertainment Book offers a special AWD# plus many coupons for Avis, including $40 off (minimum 5-day rental of a Convertible, Premium SUV or Fullsize SUV), $40 off (minimum 10-day rental of an Intermediate car or above), $30 off (minimum 5-day rental of a Premium car or above), $25 off (minimum 5-day rental of an Intermediate car or above), free weekend day (3 day weekend rental of Intermediate through Fullsize 4-door), free upgrade and more. • Wal-Mart Customers (i.e. anyone) can get up to 20% off rentals at Avis. Use AWD# B021615.

• Choice Privileges members (free to join) can get savings of up to 25% at Avis. Use AWD# W661100.

• Hyatt Gold Passport frequent-stay program members (free to join online) can save up to 20% off Avis rentals with AWD# K817700. Valid at participating Avis airport locations worldwide. Hotel stay is not required. Members must provide their Hyatt Gold Passport membership number at time of rental.

• Discover Card holders can get savings of up to 25% at Avis. Use AWD code Q336600.

• Sears cardholders can get Avis discounts and coupons. Visit Sears.com and look under "Sears Specialty Sites" for the heading "Car Rentals." Thanks to Ernie D for info!

• Warehouse clubs such as Costco, Sam's Club and BJ's Wholesale Club may offer discounts on Avis to their members. If you are a member, see the store for specific codes and coupons.

• AARP offers a discount on Avis to its members (you must be 50 or older). See the AARP web site for the AWD code.
