Sesame Place San Diego is a kid-friendly theme park and water park with whirling and splashing rides, the largest wave pool in Southern California, an award-winning parade, and family-friendly special events and shows. There is also an interactive Sesame Street Neighborhood with appearances by Elmo, Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby and more. This park is a Certified Autism Center, similar to Sesame Place in Philadelphia. Sesame Place San Diego is actually located in Chula Vista, about an hour drive from downtown San Diego, SeaWorld San Diego, the San Diego Zoo and other attractions. Sesame Place San Diego’s open hours vary seasonally. During the summer months, early September and the weeks of Thanksgiving and Christmas it is open daily. The rest of the year it is generally only open on weekends, so be sure to check the schedule when planning your visit. 

Sesame Place San Diego is cashless. Sesame Place San Diego only accepts card and mobile payments at all locations including their restaurants, retail stores, ticket windows, and parking toll booths. If you only have cash you can convert your cash to a prepaid debit card at one of the multiple kiosks located throughout the park at no charge.

Tips and Advice about Sesame Place San Diego Tickets

Sesame Place San Diego has date-based tickets, so the cost will vary depending on the time of year you visit. Single Day tickets are only valid on a specific date and are non-refundable, so be sure you have the specific date you want to go locked down before purchasing. Two-Day, Two Park tickets are good for one admission to Sesame Place San Diego and one admission to SeaWorld San Diego within 6 months of the date of purchase. Sesame Place does offer an Any Day ticket that is good for any day this year, however it is more expensive than any date-specific Single Day ticket. So, unless flexibility is really important to you, you are better off buying a ticket for the date you plan to visit. If your plans change, you can change your ticket to a different date; you will have to pay any cost difference and there is no refund or credit if you switch to a day with a lower price. 

There are several Season Passes that include one year of admission to Sesame Place San Diego, along with FREE parking, FREE guest tickets and other benefits. An annual pass may be worth purchasing if you think you will visit more than once this year or can take advantage of the other perks and benefits. They also offer a 2-Park Season Pass which is good for unlimited admission only to both Sesame Place San Diego and SeaWorld San Diego and does not include any other perks or benefits. If you plan to buy a Seasonal Pass, doing so in advance on the Sesame Place San Diego website means you’ll get free parking on your first day. For passes purchased at the park, the parking benefit starts after the first visit.

Sesame Place San Diego often has special offers on tickets (which they often extend), and sometimes on Season Passes. However, be sure to compare the total cost of their offer with the cost of the same ticket from Undercover Tourist; you may find you get a slightly better deal through Undercover Tourist.
