Locations Near Disney World and Disneyland

Budget is located on airport property in Orlando. You can just walk right out to the garage to pick up your car.

In addition to its Orlando airport location, there is an alternate Budget location at 2125 Landstreet Road in Orlando. It is 9 miles from the airport on Orange Blossom Trail and Sand Lake Blvd. Taxi fare from the airport is reportedly about $20. In some cases it may be substantially cheaper to rent from this location, if you don't mind the inconvenience. (By the way, it may be possible to return the car to the airport without a drop charge. Budget is located on airport property in Orange County, CA (SNA). It has a regular shuttle at LAX.

FastBreak

Budget has a frequent-renter program called FastBreak that allows you to pre-register your credit card number, driver's license number, etc. This can speed your check-in at the airport. Also, MouseSavers.com reader Debi G reports that when she signed up for FastBreak, she received a coupon in the mail for a two-car-class upgrade.

Additional Drivers

Unlike many rental car companies that charge a premium on additional drivers, Budget has quite a liberal policy of allowing a spouse, domestic partner, employer or fellow employee to drive the vehicle without any additional paperwork or payment. This can save you quite a bit: most rental car companies charge $10 a day or more when you add an additional driver. The policy below is accurate as of July 2009:

An additional driver must be at least 25 years of age. Budget will check the additional drivers' license to ensure that it is valid. The following are exempt from the fee but must meet all other driver requirements:

• the renter's spouse or domestic partner;
• the renter's employer or fellow employee when on company business and renting under a corporate account;
• the companion driver of a renter with a disability who has completed the non-licensed renter form;
• for insurance replacement rentals, company employees or family members who are designated on the insurance policy.

Discounts, Codes and Coupons

To find the best rates, I recommend trying every code that applies to your travel dates and desired car type when checking rates for Budget online. Just type the code into the appropriate box on the Budget web site.

The codes below are good for anyone to use and do not require a paper coupon. However, some of them will work only for certain dates and/or car types, and some have blackout dates over certain holidays -- so if one doesn't work, try another. Rates do not include taxes and fees.

Discounts Open to Anyone

• First, be sure to check out the various specials on the Budget web site. (Click on the Specials tab at the top.)

• Get an Intermediate rental for $199/week from Budget. Offer valid for pick-up by 1/16/10 (but 11/26/09-11/30/09 and 12/19/09-12/31/09 are blacked out). Use BCD code U230101. Limited availability at this rate. Weekly rates require a five-consecutive-day minimum rental and a 14-day maximum rental. A 24 hour advance reservation is required. Offers may not be available during holiday and other blackout periods; rate surcharges during peak periods may apply. Rates may not be combined with any other discounted rate or promotional offer. Offer expires 11/22/09.

• Get an Intermediate SUV rental for $199/week or a 5-passenger SUV rental for $224/week from Budget. Offer valid for pick-up by 12/15/09. Use BCD code U102900. Limited availability at this rate. Weekly rates require a five-consecutive-day minimum rental and a 14-day maximum rental. A 24 hour advance reservation is required. Offers may not be available during holiday and other blackout periods; rate surcharges during peak periods may apply. Rates may not be combined with any other discounted rate or promotional offer. Offer expires 11/26/09.

• Save up 10% off your weekly or weekend rental at Budget with BCD code U081800. Weekly rates require a 5 day minimum rental. A Saturday night stayover and an advance reservation may be required. Weekend rate available Thursday noon; car must be returned by Monday 11:59 pm, or higher rate will apply. Available for US and Canadian residents only. Valid for pick-up until 12/31/09.

• Save $20 off weekly rental of an Intermediate (group C) car or above at Budget with BCD code U100700. Requires minimum five day rental period that includes a Saturday night stay over. Dollars off will be applied at time of rental (won't show on reservation). Valid for pick-up through 12/31/09.

• Wal-Mart Customers (i.e. anyone) can get up to 25% off rentals at Budget. Use BCD code W810011.

• The 2010 Entertainment Book offers a special BCD code plus many coupons for Budget, including $40 off (minimum 5-day rental of a Convertible, Premium SUV or Fullsize SUV), $35 off (minimum 10-day rental of Compact or above), $25 off (minimum 5-day rental of Premium or above), $20 off (minimum 5-day rental of Compact or above), free weekend day (minimum 3-day rental including Saturday night stay, of Compact through Fullsize 4-door), free upgrade and more. • Use your MasterCard and save up to 20% on your weekend rental, PLUS get a third weekend day FREE! Use BCD code U203800 and coupon code TUEZ004 (no physical coupon required). A minimum three day weekend rental of a Compact (group B) through a Premium (group G) car is required. Weekend rental period begins noon Thursday and car must be returned by Monday 11:59 pm, or a higher rate will apply. A Saturday night keep is required. Offer cannot be used for one-way rentals. Travel must begin by 6/30/10.

• Discover Card holders can get savings of up to 25% at Budget. Use BCD code S232000.

• Costco and BJ's Wholesale Club offer discounts on Budget to their members. See the store for specific codes and coupons.
