AAA (American Automobile Assn) and CAA (Canadian Automobile Assn) Ticket Discounts

AAA Discounts on Magic Your Way Tickets

AAA discounts on selected Magic Your Way tickets (usually 3 to 7 days in length) are available in advance through most, but not all, AAA offices. Different AAA chapters offer different tickets. Some in the Western US don't sell any Walt Disney World tickets at all.

Auto Club South Discounts on Annual Passes

Auto Club South offices in Florida offer an additional discount on regular Walt Disney World Annual Passes for AAA members. You'll save over $20 on adult or child Annual Passes and Premium Annual Passes.

The Orlando office is located at 4300 East Colonial Drive. Call (407) 894-3333 for hours and directions. Passes must be purchased in person unless you are a member of Auto Club South, in which case some passes can be purchased online after logging into the Auto Club South web site. You will be sold a voucher that must be redeemed at a Disney World ticket window. Thanks to Robert M for info.

Auto Club South Discounts on Florida Resident Tickets, Seasonal and Annual Passes

Auto Club South offices in Florida offer an additional discount on 1-Day and 3-Day Magic Your Way Florida Resident tickets, Florida Resident Seasonal Passes and the Florida Resident Annual and Premium Annual Passes for AAA members.

  • Currently Auto Club South has an offer allowing AAA members to purchase a new or renewal Florida Resident Seasonal, Annual or Premium Pass at the AAA discount price from 9/1/09-12/31/09 and upon redemption, the pass will be valid for 15 months. Renewals must be processed within 30 days of the old pass expiration. New pass vouchers must be redeemed 9/1/09-1/14/10 to get the 3 extra months. Thanks to Katie L for info.

Passes must be purchased in person unless you are a member of Auto Club South, in which case some passes can be purchased online after logging into the Auto Club South web site. You will be sold a voucher that must be redeemed at a Disney World ticket window, with proper Florida resident ID required.

Florida Resident Ticket Discounts

In order to qualify for Florida Resident pass discounts, you have to show proof of residency such as a valid Florida driver's license or Florida state ID card, showing a Florida address. These passes are also controlled using a biometric finger scan, to prevent them from being transferred to non-Florida residents. Disney has the system down to a science -- trust me, you really can't buy or use these passes unless you actually live in Florida!

The only exception is small children -- since Disney can't reasonably require them to show residency through an ID, it's technically possible for Florida residents to buy Florida resident passes for non-resident kids. For instance, if Grandma and Grandpa live in Florida, they could accompany their grandkids who live outside Florida to Walt Disney World, and buy the kids Florida resident passes.

If you're not an actual Florida resident, can you just go to Florida, get a Florida ID and buy tickets at the Florida resident rate? Not legally. This scam is promoted by some web sites and "e-books" that sell advice about how to save money at Disney World. Here's what the Florida Dept of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles has to say about that: "Giving false information on an application for a driver license or identification card is a third degree felony which may result in arrest, and includes a one-year suspension of the driving privilege."

Military & Civil Service Ticket Discounts

2009 Special Ticket Offer for Military

Through December 23, 2009, each active or retired member of the US military may obtain one FREE 5-day "Disney's Armed Forces Salute" ticket with Park Hopper and Water Park Fun & More options. This ticket is valid for five days of admission into the four Walt Disney World theme parks, plus a total of five visits to a choice of a Disney water park, DisneyQuest Indoor Interactive Theme Park or certain other attractions.

During this offer period, active or retired US military personnel may also make a one-time purchase of up to a maximum of five 5-Day "Disney's Armed Forces Salute Companion" tickets (one theme park per day) for $99 per ticket, plus tax, for family members (including spouse) or friends. Although this ticket for family members and friends does not include either the Park Hopper or Water Park Fun & More options, this ticket can be upgraded to add either such option, or both, for an additional $25, plus tax, per option (half the regular price).

How to Get the Tickets

Complimentary "Disney's Armed Forces Salute" tickets for admission to the Walt Disney World Resort can be obtained only at participating US military base ticket offices (including Shades of Green), or at Main Entrance theme park ticket windows. Military personnel who obtain an exchange voucher at a military base or SOG will need to activate the voucher at Main Entrance theme park ticket windows in order to use those tickets (no more than one such complimentary ticket per service member will be activated).

Guests can pre-purchase the companion tickets (in the form of an exchange voucher) at Shades of Green or at a military base, TAX-FREE! The exchange voucher is then taken to a Main Entrance theme park ticket window, where it is exchanged for the actual ticket. The companion tickets can also be purchased at the Main Entrance theme park ticket windows, but if you do this, you must pay tax.

Rules

All tickets and options are non-transferable and must be used by 12/23/09.

Complimentary "Disney's Armed Forces Salute" tickets may be obtained only by active or retired US military personnel, including activated members of the National Guard or Reservists (with orders showing active status after January 1, 2008) and active or retired members of the United States Coast Guard. Spouses are not eligible. Dept of Defense (CIA, FBI, Secret Service) and Coalition Forces are excluded.

"Disney's Armed Forces Salute Companion" tickets for family members and friends may be purchased only by active or retired US military personnel, including activated members of the National Guard or Reservists (with orders showing active status after January 1, 2008) and active or retired members of the United States Coast Guard (or, in each case, their spouses, but not both).

The military personnel (or spouse) will be required to present valid military identification (which, for activated members of the National Guard or Reservists, also includes orders showing active status after January 1, 2008) for all ticket transactions. A valid ID may also be required for admission.

"Disney's Armed Forces Salute Companion" tickets are limited to five per service member (regardless of place of purchase and whether purchased by service member or spouse) and all five must be purchased at the same time. Accordingly, no service member (or spouse) will be permitted to activate, and/or to redeem exchange certificates for, more than a total of five "Disney's Armed Forces Salute Companion" tickets for the Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort (regardless of whether activated or exchanged by the service member or spouse).

No Expiration Option cannot be added to these tickets. Complimentary tickets cannot be upgraded in any way. Companion tickets may be upgraded to Premium, Annual or Seasonal Passes. (Seasonal Pass upgrade requires proof of Florida residency.) No other upgrades, such as adding additional days, will be available.

Tickets must be used by the same person on any and all days. "Disney's Armed Forces Salute" complimentary tickets may be used only by the service members to whom they are issued. "Disney's Armed Forces Salute Companion" tickets may be used only by the friends and family members for whom they are purchased.

This offer may not be combined with any other offer.

Where to Ask Questions

If you have questions about this promotion, I strongly recommend that you call Shades of Green directly and ask them. They seem to have the best handle on all the various issues involved with the military tickets.

Active duty and retired military, DOD civilian employees and their dependents qualify for discounts on Walt Disney World tickets. The savings mainly come from not paying tax (6.5%).

Disney has the right to check ID at the gate. Military personnel may bring in non-military guests with the military discount as long as they accompany the non-military person(s) and at least 50% of the group are qualified for the military discount (i.e., active duty, retired, DOD and dependents). If military personnel purchase tickets and give them as gifts to non-military users that they will not be accompanying, they risk having the recipient denied entry and the tickets confiscated.

  • Discounted military tickets are available through your local base MWR office. The prices and the exact passes that are available will vary from base to base.

  • Another place where active duty and retired military can get discounted tickets is a small Navy Exchange in Orlando that has an ITT/MWR office. It is located near the airport on Tradeport & Earhart Drive. The MWR office phone number is (407) 855-0116 or (407) 851-4396, or you can email them at mwrorl@aol.com for current hours and prices. Thanks to Cathy C for info.

  • Those with Military ID (and their dependents) can purchase discounted tickets (including Annual Passes) at Shades of Green (SOG), the military-operated resort located on Disney World property. To see the SOG prices, click here. Thank you to Lisa and Gale M for the info!

  • Active duty or retired military, reservists, National Guard and DoD personnel can order discount tickets by mail order by calling the Navy Region Southwest at (619) 767-6000 or the Air Force Central Ticket Program at (210) 652-2855.

  • Civil Service employees of certain branches of government (such as NASA) can purchase discounted Disney tickets at their exchange shops at the same rates as military. Typically the tickets must be ordered and will take a couple of weeks to arrive. While the employee must purchase the tickets, reportedly anyone can use them. Thanks to Melissa for the info.

Corporate Discounts

If you work for a company that is a major corporate sponsor at Walt Disney World (i.e. the company's logo is on a major attraction), ask your Human Resources department if discounted tickets are available. In the past, employees of corporate sponsors have qualified for significant discounts.

Additionally, employees of companies that have a business relationship with Disney sometimes qualify for ticket discounts. Reportedly employees of Chase (which offers the Disney Rewards Visa) and Kellogg's (which does a lot of cross-promotions with Disney) get 20% off tickets, for instance. Check with your Human Resources department for additional info.

Ticket Discounts for Canadians

Walt Disney World Park Hopper passes and Annual Passes are sold at the Disney Stores in Canada and at CAA offices.

The price of Disney tickets purchased in Canada is adjusted periodically to conform to the current exchange rate, so at times it may be possible to luck out and time a purchase to benefit from a sudden change in the exchange rate.

Tickets purchased in Canada may be intended only for Canadians and there is a slight chance you might be asked for ID, so US citizens who live near the border should keep this in mind.

DVC Member Ticket Discounts

The Disney Vacation Club (DVC) is a Disney-operated timeshare program with properties at Walt Disney World, Vero Beach and Hilton Head Island.

DVC members qualify for special discounts on Annual Passes. The discount is valid for members of the DVC member's immediate household only.

  • Adult Annual Pass (age 10+) save $100.00 plus tax

  • Child Annual Pass (ages 3-9) save $88.00 plus tax

  • Adult Annual Pass Renewal (age 10+) save $105.00 plus tax

  • Child Annual Pass Renewal (ages 3-9) save $93.00 plus tax

  • Adult Premium Annual Pass (age 10+) save $125.00 plus tax

  • Child Premium Annual Pass (ages 3-9) save $110.00 plus tax

  • Adult Premium Annual Pass Renewal (age 10+) save $115.00 plus tax

  • Child Premium Annual Pass Renewal (ages 3-9) save $101.00 plus tax

Thanks to Jo at Small World Vacations for info!

Kissimmee Wal-Mart

If you are driving or renting a car in Florida, here's another option: the Wal-Mart at 4444 W. Vine in Kissimmee, one town over from Orlando, has a ticket center within the store that sells discounted multi-day Disney World tickets.

They do not carry every ticket type. You have to buy the tickets in person -- they will not mail them. I would recommend calling ahead at (407) 397-0090 or (800) 669-0913 to confirm prices, hours and availability. Thanks to Brad W for the info.

Hilton HHonors

You can trade in Hilton HHonors points for "FREE" Walt Disney World tickets. It takes 175,000 points for an adult 4-Day Magic Your Way with Park Hopper and Water Park Fun & More ticket with the No Expiration option. It is 160,000 points for a 4-day child's ticket with the same inclusions. 7-Day tickets are also available at higher point values.

Click here to read about this award. Click here to read more about HHonors.

Youth Group Discounts

Organized youth groups of 10 or more can receive significant savings off admission to any of the four Walt Disney World theme parks.

This program is limited to Domestic US groups only and orders are subject to validation before approval. Specially-priced Theme Park tickets are available to organized youth (K-12) groups of 10 or more only. Tickets must be reserved a minimum of 3 business days in advance, and are valid 7 days prior to arrival until 7 days after group’s main departure date.

For more information or to buy your tickets online, visit DisneyTPA.com, or call (866) 441-1581.

University of Central Florida Discounts

Students, faculty and staff at University of Central Florida can purchase One Day, One Park Disney World tickets at a significantly reduced rate. There is a limit of 10 tickets per 90 days. Tickets can be purchased through the SGA Ticket Center located on the first floor of the Student Union in the Lighthouse Mall area. Be sure to buy in advance because they do sell out at times. For more details, visit their web site. Thanks to Amanda for info.

Support Florida Hospital for Children and Save on One-Day Disney Tickets

Here is an extremely rare opportunity to save on one-day tickets to the Walt Disney World theme parks. Make a gift to benefit the Walt Disney Pavilion at the Florida Hospital for Children, and receive a special package that includes one or more One Day, One Park tickets to a Walt Disney World theme park, plus additional benefits. Best of all, this promotion benefits a worthy cause!

These tickets and extras do have an expiration date, so check the Florida Hospital for Children donation site carefully to see full details. These tickets cannot be upgraded in any way (i.e., you won't be able to add the Park Hopper option or upgrade to a multi-day ticket). For that reason, if taking advantage of this promotion, be sure that you only need one-day tickets and that you only plan to visit one park per day.

The following gift levels are available:

  • $85 gift - 1 One Day, One Park ticket to a Walt Disney World theme park (adult ticket is $84.14 value, tax included), plus 25% off entire purchase at Curl by Sammy Duvall in Downtown Disney

  • $150 gift - 2 One Day, One Park tickets to a Walt Disney World theme park (two adult tickets are $168.28 value, tax included), $20 gift certificate to Planet Hollywood Orlando in Downtown Disney, plus 25% off entire purchase at Curl by Sammy Duvall in Downtown Disney

  • $300 gift - 4 One Day, One Park tickets to a Walt Disney World theme park (four adult tickets are $336.56 value, tax included), $40 gift certificate to Planet Hollywood Orlando in Downtown Disney, 25% off all water sports activities at Sammy Duvall's Watersports Centre at Disney's Contemporary Resort, plus 25% off entire purchase at Curl by Sammy Duvall in Downtown Disney

  • $750 gift - 10 One Day, One Park tickets to a Walt Disney World theme park (ten adult tickets are $841.40 value, tax included), $120 gift certificate to Planet Hollywood Orlando in Downtown Disney, 25% off all water sports activities at Sammy Duvall's Watersports Centre at Disney's Contemporary Resort, plus 25% off entire purchase at Curl by Sammy Duvall in Downtown Disney

Note that at the $85 level, you aren't saving any money on the Disney ticket, but you're getting a discount at Curl. At the higher donation levels, you're essentially paying $75 for an $84.14 ticket, plus you're getting a Planet Hollywood gift certificate and discount(s). There is a shipping and handling fee of $8.50.

Presumably this promotion is offered for a limited time, but I'm not sure when it expires. Thanks to Roel S for info.
