Easy Way to Save on Your Disney Cruise

The travel agency I personally recommend here on MouseSavers.com, Small World Vacations, offers an onboard credit of $25-$650 when you book your Disney Cruise with them. Your onboard credit, which varies depending on the cost of your cruise, is good toward many onboard activities and extras such as spa treatments, shore excursions or even your bar tab!

Plus, this onboard credit offer is on top of any other discounts for which you may qualify, such as special promotions and onboard credits from Disney.

In my experience, the travel agents at Small World Vacations are great at finding the best fares. They know all the tricks that will save you money. These wonderfully capable agents only sell Disney travel and they know it inside and out.

Small World Vacations gives you full service, including a personal travel agent you can contact by phone toll-free, and best of all, it costs you nothing to use them!

To learn more, visit the Small World Vacations website, where you can see full details about the onboard credit offer and request a quote on your cruise vacation.

Last-Minute Restricted Stateroom Discounts from DCL

Disney offers a way to save if you are flexible about your stateroom location and willing to book "last minute," meaning 21-75 days prior to departure.

When offered, new "Restricted" room categories be offered on select sailings at the discretion of Disney Cruise Line operations. If offered, here’s what you will see online:

  • Inside Stateroom with Restrictions (GTY IGT)

  • Oceanview Stateroom with Restrictions (GTY OGT)

  • Verandah Stateroom with Restrictions (GTY VGT)

These categories may provide a great rate if you are flexible with your stateroom location, but as the name suggests, they are heavily restricted, with a lot of rules.

Important details you need to know:

  • You will not be able to select a stateroom number or make special requests as to stateroom location. The stateroom is assigned at the discretion of Disney Cruise Line within a week of cruise departure. The only guarantee will be Inside, Outside or Verandah (based on the bookable category code listed).

  • Applies to new bookings only. Existing reservations cannot be modified to these new categories.

  • Full payment is due at time of booking. Booking holds are not permitted.

  • Reservation is non-refundable.

  • Reservation and applied payment are non-transferable.

  • Full legal names and birthdates for all stateroom occupants are required at time of booking.

  • Name changes after the reservation number is confirmed will not be permitted.

  • Sail date, stateroom category and cruise itinerary changes are not permitted once a reservation number is confirmed.

  • Not combinable with any discount or promotional offers, with the exception of $25 onboard credit for bookings made online and Disney Visa benefits.

  • The “Verandah Stateroom with Restrictions” category allows for a maximum of four stateroom occupants.

Restrictions and booking rules are subject to change.

If you are interested in booking one of these restricted stateroom last-minute rates,
you are within 21-75 days of the sailing that interests you, and all of the members of your travelling party are ready to commit,
please contact
Small World Vacations to see if the offer is available for that sailing.

Onboard Booking Discount

If you are going on a Disney cruise and think there is ANY chance you may want to go on another Disney cruise in the future, be sure to book your future cruise while you are still onboard the ship. You will receive a 10% discount and an onboard credit* for the future cruise!

The amount of the onboard credit depends on the length of your cruise and your Castaway Club member level. (Once you have been on one Disney cruise, you are a Castaway Club member.) Here is a list of the onboard credits that Castaway Club members get when rebooking onboard:

Silver Castaway Club (1-5 cruises) $100 for 3-6 night cruises $200 for 7 night or longer cruises
Gold Castaway Club (6-10 cruises) $150 for 3-6 night cruises $275 for 7 night or longer cruises
Platinum Castaway Club (11+ cruises) $200 for 3-6 night cruises $350 for 7 night or longer cruises

*There is no discount for suites or concierge staterooms, but you will receive the onboard credit as indicated in the chart above. There are no onboard credits for 2 night sailings.

If you book your cruise with Small World Vacations and request to work with Small World Vacations again when you rebook onboard, you can combine the Disney Cruise Line rebooking discount and onboard credit with Small World's exclusive onboard credit offer of up to $650!

If you are already a client of Small World Vacations, just make sure, in writing, that the Future Bookings Desk on the ship notes Small World Vacations on your new reservation confirmation at the time of booking, and then contact your Small World Vacations agent when you get home.

Some additional details:

  • There is a Future Bookings Desk on the ship. Check your daily Navigator for times and location. If the desk is busy and you don’t want to wait, you can fill out a form with your travel preferences and drop it in the box on the desk. They will secure a reservation for you and leave it by your stateroom door. Stop by the desk or contact them from your stateroom phone at 7-2848 if you want to book it. Don’t leave the ship without a written confirmation showing that your deposit has been paid, or the reservation will be automatically canceled.

  • A 10% deposit is required at the time of booking. If you reserve a suite or concierge stateroom, your deposit is nonrefundable, but it can be moved to a different date without penalty, as long as you are outside the penalty period.

  • Onboard booking incentives CANNOT be combined with any group discounts organized by a travel agency.

  • You can later change the dates of the future cruise and still keep the onboard booking discount and onboard credit. There is no penalty for making changes to the reservation, as long as you are outside the penalty period. For this reason, some people book random future dates, just to hold the discount.

  • You can book as many staterooms for future cruises as you have people in your party. For instance, if you have a family of 5 on the cruise, you can book up to 5 staterooms for future cruises! This is great if you'd like to organize a family reunion cruise, or get a great deal for family and friends.

Group Incentives

Organizing your own group? Disney Specialist travel agents can sometimes offer great incentives for group bookings of 8 staterooms or more. If you are organizing a family reunion cruise or getting a group of friends together for a vacation, you may be able to take advantage of these incentives.

Contact a Disney Specialist travel agency such as Small World Vacations for details on group incentives. Remember, it costs you nothing to use them, and you may get a nice benefit for your group.

Travelocity Deals on Disney Cruises

Travelocity sometimes has special deals on Disney cruises. They are usually fairly last-minute offers, most typically no more than 6 months in advance.

Travelocity also sometimes advertises "15% off shore excursions" but be aware that those are privately booked excursions through a company called Port Promotions, NOT the official Disney excursions.

Expedia Deals on Disney Cruises

Expedia is a possibility for getting good deals on Disney cruises, especially on last-minute (3 months in advance or less) bookings. It appears that Expedia has "blocks" of cabins and sometimes will still have unsold cabins in the less-expensive categories, when Disney is sold out in those categories.

A reader reports that she booked a 3-day Disney cruise through Expedia less than a month in advance and "They were also very helpful in setting up port pickup of my documents and adding my ... on-board credit. This is a good alternative for people who cannot take advantage of early booking due to constantly changing work schedules." Thanks to Monica S for info.
