Historical Information on Walt Disney World Resort Discounts

This page provides information about the dates when room rates and special discounts have been released for Walt Disney World resorts in the past. Please note that past trends are no guarantee of future discounts! This information is provided for estimating purposes only.

Release Dates for Full Price ("Rack") Room Rates

  • 2005 Walt Disney World resort room rates were released in late May 2004.

  • 2006 Walt Disney World resort room rates were released in late May 2005.

  • 2007 Walt Disney World resort room rates were released in mid-May 2006.

  • 2008 Walt Disney World resort room rates were released August 5, 2007.

Release Dates for Full Price Vacation Packages

  • 2005 Walt Disney World vacation packages were released in mid-June 2004.

  • 2006 Walt Disney World vacation packages were released June 30, 2005.

  • 2007 Walt Disney World vacation packages were released August 6, 2006.

  • 2008 Walt Disney World vacation packages were released August 5, 2007.

Release Dates for Discount Codes, Annual Passholder Discounts & Florida Resident Discounts

In the past, these three categories have offered the deepest discounts that are available to the general public.

The chart below lists the time periods when Disney has offered major discounts to the public in the past few years, the approximate dates they became available, and the expiration date, when known. There may have been additional blackout dates (dates when the special discount did not apply) that are not noted; for instance, typically Easter and Thanksgiving are blacked out, plus a few days on either side of the holiday.

I don't provide the actual discounted prices from past promotions. That's because the rates almost always go up each year, and there is no guarantee that the same level of discount will be offered from one year to the next. In fact, as tourism is recovering and Disney theme park attendance is up, it is more and more likely that the discounts will be less.

Please don't count on specific prices when planning your budget way in advance. It will only lead to disappointment. For budget purposes, the best idea is to wait until the "rack rates" (full price rates) come out for the year you're going, and if you are going in Value Season or Regular Season, subtract 20% and keep your fingers crossed. If you're going in Summer Season, Peak Season or Holiday Season, don't count on a discount.
