Getting Around: Luxury Sedan, Limo and VanJump to: Orlando International Airport to/from Walt Disney WorldFor Walt Disney World vacations, if you have a party of 4 or more, private luxury sedan or limo service is often a better deal than taking a shuttle -- and much faster and more comfortable! Generally speaking the driver meets you at baggage claim, assists you with your luggage, and takes you straight to your hotel. It really gets your vacation off to a great start.
There are a lot of limo companies in the Orlando area. I've checked out a number of them, and I personally recommend Happy Limo. Its reservations center is open 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, 7 days a week, so you won't have problems reaching someone, and I have found the nice folks at Happy Limo to be very responsive to e-mail inquiries. You can even book your limo or van online through a secure server. If you request it in advance, Happy Limo will make a free 15 minute stop at a grocery store on the way to your hotel so you can pick up a few things. (A grocery stop may not be offered if your flight is more than 30 minutes late or early.)
There are other limo companies in Orlando that charge slightly less, but I think Happy Limo offers the best value for your money. Based on past performance, I can't recommend any of the "cheaper" services I've checked out. Too many of them have had no-show problems, shoddy vehicles, problem drivers, etc. Happy Limo's services are competitively priced with other major limo companies in the Orlando area and more importantly I find Happy Limo is dependable and offers very good customer service. There is a coupon available for MouseSavers readers who want to use Happy Limo. Happy Limo also offers some specialty vehicles:

Transfers to/from Port Canaveral (Florida Disney Cruise Line Port)A fun (and surprisingly economical) way to get from Walt Disney World or the Orlando Airport to the Cruise Terminal at Port Canaveral is to use luxury sedan, limo, private van or SUV service. Plus, you can schedule your transportation to get you to the ship earlier than the bus passengers, which allows you to board ahead of the crowd and get yourself settled, make Palo and spa reservations, etc.
There are a lot of limo companies in the Orlando area. I've checked out a number of them, and I personally recommend Happy Limo. Its reservations center is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, so you won't have problems reaching someone, and I have found the nice folks at Happy Limo to be very responsive to e-mail inquiries. A luxury sedan is generally cheaper than Disney's bus transfers if you are transporting a family of 4. Luxury sedan service (Lincoln Town Car with a capacity of 4 adults) from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to Port Canaveral is $220 round trip plus plus gratuity and any applicable fees*. From Walt Disney World area hotels to the Port, a luxury sedan will cost you $242 round trip plus plus gratuity and any applicable fees*. For larger groups, a private van or SUV is definitely the way to go. See the Happy Limo web site for rates. If you feel like splurging, consider a stretch limo. Happy Limo adds no prepaid gratuity on any vehicle for MouseSavers.com readers! That's right, the gratuity is at your discretion. (If you are happy with the service, a tip of about 20% is usual.) A surcharge of $10 applies to international arrivals and late arrivals (11:00 pm - 6:00 am). If you need a car seat or booster seat, there is a $5 fee per seat for each leg of the trip. These should be the only additional fees that apply. Airport Transfers to/from Disneyland in CaliforniaIf you're planning a trip to Disneyland in California, you have a lot of airport options. The closest airport to Disneyland is Orange County (SNA), followed by Long Beach (LGB), Ontario (ONT), Los Angeles (LAX) and Burbank (BUR). Those who will also be visiting San Diego may even consider that airport (SAN), which is about 1.5 hours south of Disneyland. From some airports, using a limo or towncar may be the most economical option, particularly if you have a family of 3 or more. Without a doubt, using a private vehicle is the easiest and most relaxing option. Generally speaking the driver meets you at baggage claim, assists you with your luggage, and takes you straight to your hotel. This gets your vacation off to a great start and helps you make the most of your precious vacation time.
Transfers to/from Port of Los Angeles (California Disney Cruise Line Port)If you will be taking a West Coast Disney cruise in Summer 2008, your plans may call for you to do a simple transfer between two points, such as the airport and the cruise terminal. Disney will offer bus service, but the quickest and most efficient way to accomplish your transfer will be a private limo service. The great thing is, you can schedule the vehicle to get you to the ship earlier than the bus passengers, which allows you to board ahead of the crowd and get yourself settled, make Palo and spa reservations, etc. If you're just doing the cruise and a Disneyland vacation, it may still be worthwhile to use limo transfers. That will allow you to sit back, relax and let someone else do the driving, so that you don't have to navigate the Los Angeles freeway system. However, if you are planning the "grand tour" of Southern California, with a visit to Disneyland as well as other Southern California tourist destinations, a rental car is definitely your best bet. Taking limos between the major attractions would cost a fortune because the distances are significant -- for instance, it's a 1.5 hour drive between SeaWorld San Diego and Disneyland. Southern California is a very car-oriented culture, with relatively poor public transportation. Trying to get between a number of different attractions without a car can be an exercise in frustration. Depending on your plans, you may be arriving into a variety of airports. The closest airport to the port (which is in San Pedro) is Los Angeles (LAX), followed by Long Beach (LGB), Burbank (BUR), Orange County (SNA) and Ontario (ONT). Those who will also be visiting San Diego may even consider that airport (SAN).
