Radisson Resort Orlando - CelebrationSEE BELOW FOR SPECIAL RATES!
The Radisson is technically in the city of Kissimmee, but it's only about 1.5 miles from Walt Disney World as the crow flies, and it's literally across the road from the entrance to Celebration, Disney's planned community. Driving time to the Disney theme parks is about 5-10 minutes, depending on the park. The lobby is elegantly appointed, with rich colors and sparkling skylight domes. Especially when you consider the exceptionally reasonable prices you can find for this resort, you'll be amazed at the upscale look of the place. There is wireless Internet access in the hotel lobby.
All rooms are provided with excellent amenities -- 25" television set, small refrigerator with bottled water, coffee maker, ironing board and iron, hair dryer and makeup mirror in the bathroom, complimentary safe and data ports. The bathrooms have granite/marble counters. All rooms offer wired high speed Internet access and some also offer wireless access. There is a full-service restaurant at the Radisson called Mandolin's. The restaurant's Italian-inspired atmosphere -- with sienna-washed walls and terracotta tile flooring -- looks very upscale, but meal prices are quite reasonable and kids ages 10 and under eat FREE with a paying adult. I have eaten breakfast at Mandolin's on several occasions and thought the extensive buffet (which includes made-to-order omelettes) was a good value. Lunch is standard American fare and very reasonably priced. Service has always been outstandingly attentive. The "Magic in Mandolin's" dinner show is held each Thursday night. Enjoy a buffet dinner and a close-up magic and comedy show by a professional magician. If you're looking for a quick bite, the Radisson's lobby also offers a 50's themed deli/diner (Parkway Deli and Diner) with Pizza Hut, Starbucks coffee and Krispy Kreme donuts. There is extended-hours room service available as well. For additional dining options, Radisson Resort Orlando - Celebration is also within very easy walking distance of a small shopping center that has five or six restaurants, including two steakhouses and a Chinese restaurant.
There is a nice sports bar in the lobby for adults, with a huge television screen, several smaller screens and comfortable seating. A well-equipped fitness room with sauna, sand volleyball court, basketball court and two lighted tennis courts round out the amenities. The Radisson offers an extensive roster of scheduled activities for children and adults throughout the day, including live entertainment poolside and lots more. "Dive In Movies" (movies at the pool) are usually offered several times a week. Enjoy scheduled live entertainment, diving for spoons, cannonball contests, hula hoop contests, poolside bingo, live music poolside, scavenger hunts, magic shows, tennis lessons, water aerobics, and much, much more. If you don't want to drive while you're on vacation, The resort provides scheduled shuttle service to Walt Disney World, SeaWorld and Universal Studios through a private bus. The shuttle departs for the Disney Ticket and Transportation Center several times in the morning and several times in the afternoon; it makes return trips in the late afternoon and evening. There is also one early-morning shuttle per day to SeaWorld and Universal, with two late afternoon/early evening return trips from each park.
I think it's much more convenient to have a rental car here, because it gives you much greater flexibility and reduces your transportation time significantly -- you're so close to the theme parks that you can easily zip back and forth as often as you wish. Plus, if you're curious about visiting Celebration, a car will allow you to drive the approximately 2 miles into the center of that town and explore. Thrifty Rental Car has a desk in the Radisson's lobby. There is secured, free self-parking at the resort. I have stayed at this resort multiple times and found the atmosphere relaxing and the decor very attractive. Overall I consider Radisson Resort Orlando - Celebration an absolute bargain! It's usually priced lower than the Disney Moderate resorts and the waterfall pool is similar to what you'll find at some of the Disney Deluxe resorts. It's a great place to get away from it all.
